Instructions for Searching

Social service professionals and individuals in need can search our online database for available services by topic, program name or agency name. For each program entry, the database provides a description of services provided, eligibility requirements and contact information.

Instructions for Searching the Database

The Community Resource Database contains information about the social services provided by nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and churches in Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Fayette, Lee, Llano, Travis, and Williamson counties.

The database is searchable by keyword, service topic, organization name, and program name. Searches may be limited by zip code, city, age, or gender. Information, such as an organization’s eligibility criteria, service area, and intake procedure, is included for each entry.

Step 1
The fields in Step 1 (refer to the screen image shown below) are designed to limit your search and are optional. Fill in a zip code or city to find resources serving a specific geographic area. Fill in an age or select a gender to limit your search further.

Step 2
Choose one of the search options listed under Step 2:

Search for Services by Word or Phrase
Type in a word or phrase, and click Go. Keep your search simple. If the word or phrase you type in does not retrieve any services, try shortening the number of words used.

The default search is Partial Word. To limit your search, select All Words or Exact Phrase from the drop-down list. Example searches:
clothing
counseling
disabilities (or disabilit to find “disabilities” or “disability”)
education
electric bill
food
legal
rent assistance
SSI

See a List of Services by Category
Selecting this option reveals fourteen broad categories of services, which narrow to many smaller sub-categories. (Refer to the screen image shown below.)

Search for Organizations or Programs by Name
Type in an organization, agency, or program name. This option searches all former names, acronyms, and spelling variations. Keep your search simple. If the word or phrase you type in does not retrieve any services, try shortening the number of words used.

The default search is Partial Word. To limit your search, select All Words or Exact Phrase from the drop-down list. Example searches: AARP, Bastrop ISD, Habitat for Humanity, Legal Aid, WIC

Interpreting Your Search Results
After searching, the database will take you to a list of resources matching your search criteria. This list will only show the contact information for the service. To see the complete, detailed information for the service, click on the hyperlinked text in blue.

Printing Your Search Results
You can print the summary list of results, as well as the complete information for a service, by selecting the Printer Friendly option at the top of the screen.
